About:
I have faced and overcome significant challenges in my life, including racism and hate. These experiences shaped my character and strengthened my resolve to create positive change through education. They sparked a deep passion for making a difference and led me to my calling as an educator. My journey has been marked by resilience, perseverance, and a firm belief in the transformative power of education. Early on, I recognized the value of hands-on skills and how they empower individuals. I was involved in electrical and HVAC work, which gave me a strong technical foundation and nurtured my curiosity and problem-solving mindset. I spent over a decade in social services for state and local agencies in Texas, supporting incarcerated individuals, parolees, and probationers. Helping people reintegrate into society gave me a deeper understanding of systemic barriers and strengthened my commitment to creating opportunities for the overlooked and underserved. This work taught me compassion and the importance of empathy. I saw firsthand how education could unlock potential and change lives. It further fueled my belief in education as a tool for transformation. I have a solid foundation in information technology, having worked with AT&T, ACS, and CYSO. This experience shaped my approach as a teacher. I've taught students from early childhood through grade 12, integrating technology into my lessons to prepare them for the digital age. As an educator, I bring technical skills, life experience, and a heart for service. I am a certified Adobe Photoshop instructor and hold certifications in CPI crisis intervention, CPR, first aid, and AED use—reflecting my focus on safety and readiness. Beyond the classroom, I’ve worked as a hospice social worker and completed a medical social work internship in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. These roles deepened my compassion and understanding of community needs. I supported diverse learners through inclusion and accommodations. My work in remote education allowed me to reach students in varied situations. With TCOOMI, I served as a medical social worker across half of Texas, often responding to urgent needs at a moment’s notice. I believe strong communities are built on unity and support. I promote education, mentorship, and financial literacy to break cycles of disadvantage. I advocate for fairness, economic inclusion, and access to opportunity for all. Teaching is my purpose. I aim to inspire, uplift, and ensure others don’t face life’s barriers alone. Education is my way of giving back and building a better future for all.
