Dezsiray Thomas

Hello, my name is Dezsiray Thomas. I’m 23 years old and I’m from Atlanta, Georgia. I retired from the military less than a year ago. I am actively working on finding myself, chasing my dreams and loving God. My personality varies because of my day-to-day mental health challenges, but I am determined to overcome and face everything thrown in my path. My favorite road is resilience. It describes me, all of me. It reminds me to not let my past define me but make me. As many stressors are shoulder bearing, I am not alone because of my family, a big family of 10…who am I kidding, more. This brings me much gratitude and opens my heart for whatever God has in store for me. I will be truly blessed. Life wasn’t always easy. Neither was the army. There were many battles, many walls and many distractions. But, I wasn’t alone. I met numerous friends along the way that keep me focused with support and allow me to be all I can be. As the oldest child, life has taught me to lead and to follow. There is much growth and knowledge within youth so I embrace mine by getting after every advantage and opportunity that God puts in my path. I am a female, I am a lesbian. I am a child of God.
