André 3000 Thanks Drake for Leaking His Verse on Kanye West’s “Life Of The Party”

Date:

In a surprising twist in the hip-hop world, legendary rapper André 3000 has expressed gratitude to Drake for leaking his verse on Kanye West’s track “Life Of The Party.” The song, originally intended for Kanye’s Donda album, became a point of conversation during André 3000’s recent appearance on The New York Times’ Popcast podcast.

On December 21, André joined hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli to talk about his music and creative process. During the discussion, the rapper reflected on the unexpected release of his verse on Drake’s OVO Sound Radio, which occurred amidst the high-profile feud between Kanye West and Drake.

“I should probably thank Drake for that,” André admitted. “Even though the release wasn’t ideal, I’m glad fans got to hear it. At the time, Kanye and I couldn’t agree on how the song should come out.”

Creative Differences with Kanye West

André explained that his verse was nearly scrapped due to creative differences with Kanye. “Kanye was at a stage where he didn’t want any curse words on the album,” André said. “I was fine with that, but I told him, ‘If that’s the case, just take me off the song.’”

This creative impasse left the track’s release uncertain. “I don’t know if Drake knew it wasn’t going to be released and decided to share it anyway,” André continued. “But I’m kind of thankful he did, even if it came out during their beef.”

A Silver Lining in a Controversial Leak

Although the song’s release was part of a broader feud between Drake and Kanye, André focused on the positives. “The history of it is wild, but at least the fans got to hear it,” he said. “That’s what matters most to me.”

Drake’s decision to leak the track not only highlighted the tensions between the two music icons but also gave André 3000’s verse a chance to shine. Despite the drama, the OutKast rapper remains grateful that the song saw the light of day.

Final Thoughts

For André 3000 fans, the leak of “Life Of The Party” serves as a rare opportunity to hear the rapper’s artistry in its raw form. While the circumstances weren’t ideal, André’s words reflect an appreciation for the fans who continue to celebrate his work, even in unexpected ways.
