Hey there! You’re going to love this one if you’re into the blockbuster worlds of Marvel and Predator movies. We’ve got some insider scoops to update you with, so get cozy and let’s jump straight in!

Who remembers the surprise announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con about Marvel planning a Blade reboot? With the super talented Mashershala Ali in the title role, we were all pretty excited. Unfortunately, it’s been a bumpy ride for our vampire slayer. The release date set for November 2025 isn’t happening anymore. Are you shocked? Probably not, considering how rough the journey has been so far.

Blade’s Slow Progress

Without even a director to steer the ship (remember those false rumours about Jeymes Samuel?), the Blade reboot project isn’t going as fast as we had hoped. We’ve had tiny glimpses here and there, like Ali’s vocal cameo at the end of Eternals in 2021. No surprise, Ali is believed to be feeling some frustration about the slow pace of things.

As for the rest of the Blade cast, most didn’t stick around as the journey turned longer. Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre were part of the project, but not anymore, with their characters apparently written out. Mia Goth, rumoured to play the baddie Lilith, is still on board. She’s cool with the wait and thinks it shows how much Marvel cares about making this film right. This project has even lost two directors, Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange.

Predator: Badlands Fill the Vacuum

With Blade making room, the door opened up for another biggie! Say hello to Predator: Badlands, which will now claim the November 7, 2025 release spot. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg from Prey, this will be the first time a filmmaker has managed two films in the Predator franchise. Fun fact, Trachtenberg played a huge role in shaping up this story.

So, what’s the Predator: Badlands plot all about? Well, it revolves around two uniquely different sisters. Their family ties are put to the ultimate test as they embark on varied missions. The film, set in the future, promises to keep us on the edge of our seats.

The casting team sought a female or non-binary artist to play the twin sisters, Thia and Tessa. Picture this – Thia is super smart, has cool wit, and is ridiculously positive. She’s on her first big world adventure, which means she’s naive and doesn’t see danger for what it is. On the other hand, her twin Tessa has a hardcore attitude towards achieving her family’s missions – she won’t let anything stand in her way. Sounds exciting, right? Hold on, there’s more. Elle Fanning, the Super 8 star, is part of this thrilling project that began production in New Zealand earlier this year.

What’s Next?

With Blade no longer on the schedule, Disney revealed three slots for untitled Marvel movies set for February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028; and November 10, 2028. So, keep your superhero-loving eyes open for those!

That’s all the news we have for now, folks. Are you excited or disappointed by these changes in the release lineups? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below!
