Netflix is well known for its exciting line-up of shows, but it seems that some series, unfortunately, don’t make the cut. Recently, the streaming giant has decided not to renew the high-concept dark comedy, KAOS. If you’re a fan, this might come as sad news. The show, which starred the talented Jeff Goldblum, had gained quite a following.

News of the cancellation hit the thanks to Aurora Perrineau, one of the stars of the show. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Perrineau shared her disappointment over the show’s cancellation. She expressed how special the series was for her, thanks to the resonating scripts by Charlie Covell. Everyone in the team, she said, was brilliant and brought their unique touch to the series, making the experience unforgettable.

The Plot and the Powerhouse Behind the Series

Created by Charlie Covell and penned by Covell along with Georgia Christou, KAOS was a unique blend of dark humor and engaging storytelling. The show saw direction from Georgi Banks-Davis and Runyararo Mapfumo. Alongside the wonderful Jeff Goldblum, the show boasted of stellar performers such as Perrieau, Debi Mazar, Fady Elsayed, Sam Buttery, Matthew Koon, Elander Moore, Susan Wooldridge, Shila Ommi, and Amanda Douge.

An Entertaining Mix of Humanity and Divine Comedy

KAOS took us into a world where Zeus, the King of the Gods, is plagued with worries as he discovers a wrinkle on his forehead one morning. This leads to paranoid behaviors and growing neurosis. Meanwhile, his brother Hades, the God of the Underworld, is hiding the fact that he’s losing control of his realm, where the dead are growing restless due to a backlog in processing. Hera, Zeus’ wife, faces her own challenges, mainly due to Zeus’ heightened paranoia.

Add to this a rebellious Dionysus, Zeus’ son, who is on a collision course with his father, and we have an epic cosmic drama awaiting us! Down to Earth, mortals are yearning for changes to happen. However, the Gods seem to be more interested in their own affairs, leaving the mortals to fend for themselves.

The show had a unique way of portraying the eternal human struggle against oppressors, here represented by Zeus. Characters from different walks of life, like Riddy (Aurora Perrineau), Orpheus (Killian Scott), Caneus (Misia Butler), and Ari (Leila Farzad), are cosmically tied in a battle against the King of Gods.

Loved by audiences for its unique approach and the seamless blend of grim humor with fascinating tales of mythology, KAOS was an entirely human yet cosmic comedy. Unfortunately, its journey had to be put on a pause sooner than expected, leaving fans and members alike in disappointment.

In the meanwhile, let’s hold on to the memories of the hilarious, deranged, and heartbreakingly human moments that the team of KAOS created for us. As we bid farewell to this truly special show, we look forward to more novel endeavors from Netflix. Let’s see what surprises the streaming giant has in store for us next!
