[CALEB ZELIC]
- Male,
- 35-50 years (Lead Role) has been profoundly d/Deaf for most of his adult life.
- He was born as a hearing person and lost his hearing later in life.
- Most people would not know that he is d/Deaf.
- His observational skills are exceptional. They are his superpower. People who listen closely may think he has an accent but can’t identify what it is. He works as a private investigator specializing in fraud, but the most important thing to know about Caleb isn’t that he’s deaf and hates people knowing he’s deaf. He had a tough childhood, so it’s hard for him to trust; Caleb is tenacious and stubborn, but he’s also brilliantly astute – with a sixth sense for when people are lying.
Producers are open to actors and non-actors; the priority is casting someone who identifies as late-deafened, d/Deaf or HoH. The actor must also be able to communicate fully in English. Knowledge of ASL, BLS, Auslan or equivalent is needed.
