Position Overview:

TED’s Editorial team is looking for a detail-oriented producer with a sharp eye, an ear for language, boundless curiosity and an attitude of getting things done to assist in the day-to-day editorial activities of TED.com. This is a great job if you’re: a spectacular writer with incredible attention to detail; comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; and passionate about TED’s mission of spreading ideas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Write headlines and descriptive copy for TED Talks, original series, podcasts and other content; write live event recaps from TED Conferences; write articles that follow up on the work of TED speakers and the community.
  • Write and edit TED Conference promotional materials, including official TED speaker profiles and copy for apps.
  • Publish TED Talks and other content using TED’s internal publishing tools.
  • Work with TED speakers and their teams ahead of their publish dates to prepare them for their talk’s release, helping to bring their ideas to life on the internet.
  • Collect and edit annotations and other extra resources from TED speakers, including footnotes on research as well as new books, works and papers that expand on speakers’ research.

Required:

  • 1-2 years of professional writing and editorial experience
  • Ability to pass a transcription and a writing test
  • Comfort with digital content management and publishing software, like Airtable and WordPress, and the ability and desire to learn new software

Useful:

  • Near-native fluency in a second language other than English, especially: Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese Simplified, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish
  • Photoshop or similar image-editing software experience
  • News reporting experience
  • Subtitling experience

Requirements
