Half Price Books is hiring a dynamic Art Director to oversee digital and print designs for our corporate Marketing Department. Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge of graphic design, styles, and techniques. Candidates should also have experience in implementing marketing campaigns, managing all graphic design tasks, refining projects and drafts, and generating creative artwork and ideas.

Must exhibit skills in project and people management as well as managing projects with independent contractors and agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Developing a close relationship and respect for the Half Price Books brand, culture and identity.
• Designing graphic content, illustrations, infographics, in-store display and merchandising collateral.
• Evaluating efficiencies, research and introducing new technology and work-flows to create a more efficient work environment.
• Strong leadership skills and confidence.
• Managing all aspects of graphic design from conception to delivery.
• Reviewing contractor or agency proposals and design drafts to ensure quality.
• Generating creative, new concepts while giving attention to legacy campaigns.
• Ensuring brand consistency throughout various marketing projects.
• Keeping up-to-date with retail industry creative trends, marketing and creative technology and continued skill development.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor level degree in Graphic Design, Digital Art or applicable background. Masters degree a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years experience as a production artist, graphic designer or art director.
• Project portfolio of work exhibiting a hands-on lead design and artistic role.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Working experience with image design tools (e.g. Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator).
• Visual detail and aesthetic skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with team members.
• Corporate retail experience a plus.
