Casting Call: Short Film – “Analekta”

Synopsis: “Analekta” is a captivating short film that follows the journey of a young boy as he aids a family in overcoming an ancient curse during the 1990s. Filled with mystery, suspense, and a touch of magic, this tale explores the power of human connection and the resilience to face the unknown.

Available Roles:

1. Ren: Asian girl, ages 10-12

   • Ren is a courageous and inquisitive young girl who takes it upon herself to help the family break free from the curse. She is resourceful, determined, and possesses a strong sense of empathy.

2. Lynn: Asian girl, ages 10-12

   • Lynn is Ren’s supportive and adventurous best friend. She joins Ren in her quest and adds a sense of comic relief to the story. Lynn is lively, imaginative, and a true friend to the end.

3. Xia: Asian woman, age 30

   • Xia is a central figure in the family’s history. She is strong-willed, compassionate, and haunted by the curse that has plagued her lineage. Xia’s journey is one of self-discovery and breaking free from the past.

4. Sam: Asian man, age 30

   • Sam is Xia’s brother and a key player in uncovering the truth behind the curse. He is intelligent, rational, and deeply devoted to his family. Sam’s determination drives the family’s efforts to unravel the mysteries that bind them.

Job Responsibilities:

• Engage with the script and embody the character’s emotions, traits, and motivations.
• Collaborate with the director, fellow cast members, and crew to bring the story to life.
• Follow the production schedule and be punctual for rehearsals and filming.
• Adapt to feedback and make adjustments to performance as directed by the director.
• Maintain professionalism on set and contribute to a positive and creative working environment.

Requirements:

• Actors of Asian descent are required for all roles, as specified.
• For the roles of Ren and Lynn, applicants should be girls between the ages of 10-12.
• For the roles of Xia and Sam, actors should be individuals in their 30s.
• Previous acting experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to convey emotions and connect with the audience.

Compensation:

Selected actors will receive a compensation of $220 per filming day.
